Rosemary Essential Oil Spotlight:

The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flowering tops.
– The main chemical components of rosemary essential oil include apinene, borneol, bpinene, camphor, bornyl acetate, camphene, 1,8-cineole, and limonene.

Rosemary essential oil is one of the most popular and powerful oils distilled and used. It is extracted from the herb rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis). It is native to Mediterranean regions and has blue or purple flowers that give it its unique beauty. For thousands of years, rosemary has been used to soothe digestive issues, improve memory, and relieve muscle pains and aches. Rosemary essential oil is clarifying, invigorating and warming and the smell is strong and woodsy. It is a good remedy for mental fatigue and increases alertness, improves memory and acts as an all-around brain tonic. It is also useful for respiratory issues and makes a good expectorant/decongestant; a few drops on a tissue is great to open the lungs. Inhaling rosemary oil is said to lift your spirits. Emotionally and spiritually, rosemary says, “hey wake up, pay attention.” If you are a student or working late, it is one of the best oils to diffuse as it increases concentration and helps in studying efficiently. Choose rosemary – because it has the ability to revive the body, mind and spirit! Rosemary Data

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?
An absolute is a substance that has been extracted through the process of enfleurage, which uses a solvent. In enfleurage, flower petals are layered in wax or clean animal fats. The wax or fat then becomes saturated with the oil from the petals or plant material over several days. The process is then repeated by replacing the spent botanicals with fresh ones until the fat has reached a desired degree of fragrance saturation. The scented fat or wax fat is now called a pomade. The pomade is washed or soaked in a solvent (ethyl alcohol) to draw the fragrant molecules into the alcohol, thus creating a concrete. The alcohol is then separated from the fat or wax and allowed to evaporate. The result is an absolute. Absolutes differ from essential oils in that their fragrance is stronger. Absolutes are used most often by perfumers, and serve as valuable oils when creating their signature scents. Arnica, Carnation, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Labdanum, Marigold, Mimosa, Narcissus, Oak Moss, Opopanax, Rose, Tuberose, Vanilla, Verbena, Violet.

Rose Absolute Spotlight

Out of the depths of darkness rose absolute pulls us higher. It lifts our heart to unknown heights, especially in our darkest days. The soft unfolding of this sweet scent helps to heal old wounds and inspires us to live in the open air. Rose calls us to open and dismantle the walls we create between us and love. There is a reason why rose has been used for centuries as a gift between lovers or to soothe the grieving heart. When the world gifts us with pain, rose is the remedy from the earth. The walls we build to protect ourselves also close us off from the full experience of love and joy; rose beckons us to let them fall away and embrace the fullness of what our life brings us. The many layers of this scent also remind us of the unending quality of our journey. Rose Absolute Issue

Have you ever seen a rose blooming? Sometimes the opening of the petals seem to never end, which is the way of our heart. Rose helps us to lift off the top layer to find the softness underneath. When we can soften into this moment, we are at peace. Rose helps to bring us to this sense of peace and inspires us to breath in again, opening our hearts just a little more. Give yourself some time alone with rose absolute. Light a candle and place your hand on your heart. Then place a drop of rose in your hands, rub together and breath in the heavenly aroma. Allow yourself to take several deep breaths, and just notice what happens. Perhaps let your mind rest on this question:

How can you open more deeply to love? Listen for the wisdom of this scent to bring you the insights you need to make more love in the world. We all know we need it.
